The Acacia Homecare Vision

“Our vision is simple: We just want to be there to help you do the things that you want to do.”

My name is Minal Chowdhri and together with my husband Sanjeev, we own and run Acacia Homecare. We did not go looking for the care service. It found us. And that has been the common experience of the team behind Acacia Homecare. Witnessing the care service provided by others to a loved one or ourselves and thinking, “This could be so much better. This should be so much better.”

This thought grew into a dream in the summer of 2011. At the time, I was a fulltime mother to our son. Sanjeev had just left a job in the city and was seeking something new. With this window of opportunity opening up before us, we looked further into the world of domiciliary care and saw our future.

We opened the doors to Acacia Homecare and steadily grew our business due to our sterling reputation of going that extra mile.

Our aim was to start from a new, blank page and rethinking the world of care to ensure that it meets the personal needs of each and every customer. The goal was not to measure ourselves against the competition and be ‘better than,’ but to be different, measuring success against the needs of our customers and be ‘better for.’
We built upon the thoughts that grew out of our own negative experiences and drove that passion into creating many new experiences for others where we can now say, “This is better.”

But we won’t be stopping there. We will be asking ourselves daily, “Yes, this is better, but how can we make it even better?”
But our vision is only half the story. There are missing puzzle pieces to this picture and that’s where you come in. Your needs, your wishes, your goals in life. All these things need to be added in to our vision in order to make the service we offer complete.

We don’t want to just provide care to our people but also provide a way of living, not only for the person we care for but their family, friends and you too.

Acacia Homecare is not just about the two of us. There is a great family here that we would love for you to meet. Give us a call and come and see us and you can truly understand for yourself.

Acacia Homecare Services

Home is a place where people feel safe and secure. Home is familiar. The home is a refuge where a person’s memories spill out from their mind and cover the walls with pictures, cover the shelves with books and ornaments and cover the dining table with those marks and patterns that each tell a story of their own.

Home is that favourite chair that creaks a bit with one button missing from the back. Home is the front door that’s a bit stiff and you have to gently pull the handle backwards to make it open.

At Acacia homecare, we believe that your home can be an important part of the care process. While it may be true that some situations require a person to spend time in long term supervised care, the majority of people requiring assistance and care would benefit far more from being enabled to continue life in their own home.

Enabling the individual to keep full control of their day-to-day living is not simply a service we offer or something we look to encourage – it is a foundation that underpins everything we do.

Here are just some of the services we offer:

Personal Care

Our Personal care service is designed to support the individual with their day-to-day living, as well as providing the individual with the encouragement allowing them full control to remain living independently.

Our personal care service can support the individual with dressing, prompting medication, bathing and continence care, at a time to suit your convenience. Maintaining the individual’s dignity is of paramount importance to us, which is why our support workers will ensure the individual feel comfortable at all times.

Live-in Care

Our live-in care service supports individuals who require a significant level of support throughout the day and night. This allows the individual’s family and friend’s peace of mind, knowing that their loved ones are benefiting from the expert care of highly skilled healthcare professionals, in the place where the individual is most comfortable.

Unlike a care home where many individuals have to be considered, live-in care is a personal one-to-one service that is tailored to the needs of each individual. A flexible care service is provided, accommodating your regular routine and specific needs, as well as adapting to the individual’s changing circumstances.

Our support workers live with the customer and have regular breaks during the day which are either support by the family or our own domiciliary care workers.

Culture Care

We believe that enabling people to receive care in their own home is not just something that is preferred by clients, but that it forms a fundamental component of the care itself. But the positive aspects of care within the home environment can be quickly negated if those providing the care do not fit in with the home environment.

Acacia Homecare provide support workers who are not just professionally trained to provide care, but who are also culturally aware to ensure that they recognise, respect and act in accordance with the client’s beliefs and cultural background.

Acacia provide care within your own home and ensure that your own home stays as your own.

Dementia Care

At Acacia we do not see Dementia itself as a disease. Rather, it refers to a set of symptoms that describe a condition. One of the most common feelings amongst relatives of someone living with dementia is that they are losing the person they love. It doesn’t have to be this way.

When living with dementia, being able to stay in the familiarity of your own home with one-to-one, tailored support can all make a real difference. Our dementia care programme aims to minimise anxiety and frustration and promote overall health and wellbeing.

Empathy & Compassion care

We offer empathy and compassion care at any stage of your life. We aim to support you during this difficult time, making life more comfortable for everyone involved. We ensure that you are treated as an individual, with dignity and respect.

Our empathy and compassion care service supports adults who wish to remain living in the comfort of their own homes. The main objective is to provide you and your family the best quality of life you deserve. Acacia’s team of care workers have the required skills and experience to help you through these times.

MS Care

Being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis can be life changing, but doesn’t necessarily mean a loss of independence. Acacia enables people to continue living in their own homes, supported by fully trained care workers.

You remain in control of your life, and we provide the appropriate level of support to suit your needs. That means supporting you to achieve the things that matter to you most – this could be having an active social life, learning new skills, or feeling good about yourself.

Learning Disability Support

Most people with a learning disability are treated as ‘different.’ Acacia supports adults with learning difficulties like everyone else, as unique individuals. At Acacia we also believe in providing employment opportunities to people with learning disabilities.

We do not see any disabilities as a reason to give up, instead we aim to support you to fulfil your day-to-day activities. We offer a bespoke service that is tailored to suit your care needs. It could be that you require assistance in promoting daily living skills or taking a trip to the local library.

Mental Health Support

Again, most people with a mental health problems are treated as ‘different.’ Acacia supports adults with mental health problems like everyone else, as unique individuals.

One of the most common feelings amongst suffers from mental health is that they feel alone with no one to support them. It doesn’t have to be this way.
